One Shirt...Four Ways!

One Shirt...Four Ways!

Details here!

Here is today's One _____...Four Ways! Thoughts?

I love the 3/4 sleeve design of this Old Navy blouse (Old Navy? Score!), and how versatile it is. You can pair it with boyfriend jeans for a lazy Saturday shopping trip, or dress it up with black denim and stilettos for Happy Hour.

I am absolutely loving the bags here too. Those two totes are beyond amazing, and that backpack would totally come in handy when you're out and about exploring. Just perfect.

I'm off to take a nap and enjoy a quiet household while it lasts...

Happy Shopping!

Fresh Faced!

At least once a week, I try to give my skin the day off. I take extra special care of it, and go make-up free (as much as I can). Granted, I usually throw on some mascara and clear lip gloss if I'm going out in public, but everything else is au natural. Working in the cosmetics industry for a few years now, I've learned all the benefits of taking care of my skin. I never used to do anything with it-the only time I'd wash my face was when I was in the shower. No wonder it was tight and itchy all the time! Now, I stick to a strict schedule (well, semi-strict-I'm still known to sometimes fall asleep in my make-up), and I can tell you, I can see results-and I even get compliments on my "glowing skin" (exact words from a customer)! I'm still experimenting with products (and will probably continue doing so while I'm in the cosmetics industry), but I am loving my results so far!

Anyways, the point of this post is to [hopefully] open up the discussion on skin care. I ask every single customer who comes to my counter what their regime is, and I'm stunned when the majority of women say they wash their face with a bar of soap and that's it. They say they sometimes moisturize, never tone or exfoliate, and rarely use an eye cream. Gasp. A lot of them don't even know which order you're supposed to use when it comes to washing your face, so I'm going to set the record straight and give you a glimpse into my daily routine. I sincerely hope that I can change at least one person's outlook on their skin, and influence them to take better care of it. You are only given one body, why not take the best care of it that you can?

So, without further ado, here is me (and my skin!) in all it's uncovered glory. ;)

Yikes, that took a lot of courage!

Moving on...

Like I said, I've spent a couple years switching up my skin care products, searching for the perfect combination, and for right now, I'm really satisfied. Here's what I use...

Exfoliator: St. Ives Fresh Skin Invigorating Apricot Scrub (I use 3-4 times a week in the morning)
Moisturizer: Day Pond's Nourishing Moisturizing Cream (keepin' it classic)

I was going to recommend other products for different skin types, but since I've only used products catered to those with dry skin, I'm no expert on the stuff out there for normal, combination, or oily skin. But that's where you can come in-share your favorites in the comments section!

So that's it. And the order I use them in. My biggest downfall right now, is that my facial moisturizer doesn't have an SPF in it, which is a HUGE no-no. I'll slap my wrist now (and you can totally call me a hypocrite)...

Which brings me to my next point, and I'm going to shout this and BEG you to embrace it just like me.

love your skin. be it pale or tan. PLEASE, step away from the tanning oil and beds.

It has taken me SO LONG to embrace my pale, freckled, skin. But I look at my son, and how pure and untouched his fair skin is and I love it. There's no insecurities there, just beauty (and giggles). I don't know when or how it clicked for me, but it did, and I am SO glad. I used to go in the sun wearing NOTHING and pray for a burn, just so I could have that "sun-kissed" glow that all my friends had. Well, I ended up with a lot of damage, and possibly even something worse. Never again. I've fallen in love with hats, and cover my entire body in sunscreen when I'm outdoors. I'd rather preserve my skin (and get the occasional airbrush tan) than risk looking like I'm 75 when I'm 40. So call me what you want, but I love my pale skin.

I hope that I've at least educated some of my readers and convinced them to give healthy skin a try. It may seem like that all takes forever, but I do the cleansing and exfoliating in the shower, tone when I'm trying off, then do all the serums, creams, and moisturizers. It takes all of 5 minutes-but usually less than that. I promise.

Inspiration Thursday!

Is it beautiful where you are? We've somehow skipped the end of Winter here, and jumped right into Summer. It's been in the upper 70's for a week now and I am soaking up every minute of it! Hard to enjoy when you're stuck inside working all day, but my two days off a week, I enjoy it! ;)

Today I went to Old Navy for a little "me" time and found some awesome steals, and finally got the hot pink maxi skirt I had been drooling over for awhile now. Best part? It was only $9.50. Insanity. It inspired me to pull out an old picture that I had posted awhile ago, and use that for today's inspiration! I know it's a little late in the day, but feel free to post your interpretations tomorrow. :)

This dress is from Alice + Olivia, and originally retails for about $220 (on ShopBop, I can't find it on their website anymore):

Since I don't have $220 to drop on a dress, here's my way!

Don't ya just love how my skirt is perfectly blowing in the wind? ;)

One Romper, Four Ways!

One Romper, Four Ways!

Get all the deets here!

I love rompers. I own a ton of them and get super excited each Summer to pull them out and wear them. They're easy, versatile, and super sassy. It takes a little bit of courage to be able to rock one, but I think if more women gave it a try, they'd fall in love. I was very hesitant at first, but once I took the plunge and found some that I liked (and looked good on my body), I was forever changed.

I love the delicate and feminine details here, from the color, to the ruffles, and the drawstring waist. You can take this look in so many different directions-just be careful where you sit! ;)

Hi there!

It sure has been awhile! Things have been a little nutso in our household, and we just returned from a much needed vay-cay down in Charleston, SC. It was b-e-a-utiful and I cannot wait to go back! :)

I've also been a little crazy with my new job. Between that, and our little nugget being sick (one trip to the ER and one to Urgent Care), I haven't had much time to keep up with my blog-a-roni. But I'm hoping to stick to my schedule and at least post a couple times a week. If not, I know ya'll will understand. Right?

While we were in downtown Charleston, I forced my family to let me check out the MASSIVE Forever 21 there. I only had about an hour to spare (they all knew better than to come with me, so they went and explored while I shopped-so typical), so I didn't have a ton of time to just browse, but I absolutely did have enough time to fall in love with a new collection-a designer by the name of Rory Beca. Her creations are super feminine and very "laid-back chic". I love her mix of rompers, soft shorts, and maxi dresses. And the patterns are to die for. Check out some of her more expensive styles, which can be found here, at Revolve Clothing

Unfortunately for me (and I'm sure the majority of you), her stuff is a little on the pricey side. That romper could be bought with one of my paychecks, but I've got a car payment and daycare to pay for. Lucky for us though, she has some just-as-adorable designs exclusively for Forever 21-and they're all suuuuuper affordable!

I bought this Embroidered Surplice Top and LOVE it. It has a really pretty T-back and the neckline is low enough to be sexy, but not too much that it's trashy. The color is so pretty too!

They didn't have this Surplice Romper in the store when I was there, but I think I def need to order it online. The print is GORGEOUS and just screams "SPRING!", doesn't it? Reminds me of a watercolor painting.

I love the length of this Floating Feather Maxi dress, and the delicate feathers are just great for the warm weather. I love how it's asymmetrical too, it adds a little something extra to the shape.

I also bought another asymmetrical cobalt blue chiffon dress, but it's not online anymore. Looks like a lot of her styles have sold out quickly, so I'd HIGHLY recommend getting to your nearest store or ordering online before everything is gone!

Do you have a favorite designer that has designed a collection for a major retailer? Jason Wu? Moschino?

Ciao!

Taking a break...

The nugget is super sick, so I'm going to take a breaksie from the blog and get all the extra cuddle time I can.

Hopefully he feels 100% again soon, cuz I've gotta start work on Monday and he's supposed to go to daycare!

Eeks!
